Huis en Tuin
House and Garden
How dreamy I think the meadow will be
that very first summer without me.
The house is empty, the garden lush
The dandelions puffing their fuzz.
The birds stay still, making no sound.
Grass overgrows the roses round and around.
Very carefully the trees
lie down to go to sleep.
From their trunks a forest shoots up
And the house will not recoup.
Moral:
Life grows so well
when people don’t meddle
